📅 Upcoming local events

Let’s get into it 👇

🚛 Superload Move Could Slow Suffolk Traffic

The News: A superload move is expected to cause major traffic delays in Suffolk as crews haul an oversized load through the city.

Why It Matters: Moves like this usually require slow speeds, escorts, and extra space on the road. That means backups can build fast, especially if it hits busy routes or commute times.

👉 The Move: Check the route and timing before heading out. If you can avoid the area or leave early, do it. This is not the day to test your patience behind a giant transformer.

🎺 Marching Bulldogs Shine in Atlanta

The News: King’s Fork High School’s Marching Bulldogs had a big weekend at the Viewers Choice Battle of the Bands at Six Flags Over Georgia. Competing against bands from Mississippi, Tennessee, Virginia, Alabama, and Georgia, they earned Best Auxiliary and 2nd Place Overall Band.

Why It Matters: Out of 10 bands, King’s Fork came within two points of being named Grand Champion. That’s a huge showing on a regional stage and another proud moment for Suffolk Public Schools.

👉 The Move: Give the Marching Bulldogs, their staff, and director Bernard Bradley a big round of applause. Suffolk showed up and showed out.

🥎 NSA Softball Wins Seventh Straight State Title

Photo Via: (Stephen M. Katz/The Virginian-Pilot)

The News: Nansemond-Suffolk Academy softball captured its seventh straight VISAA Division II state championship, powered by a big three-hit day from Sophia Grant and a steady start from Elise Barbour.

Why It Matters: Seven straight state titles is not just a good run. That is dynasty territory. NSA softball has built one of the strongest programs in the state.

👉 The Move: Tip your cap to the Saints. Winning one title is hard. Winning seven in a row is ridiculous in the best way.
