Good morning, Scoopers!
Today, we pause to remember and honor the men and women who gave their lives while serving in our Armed Forces.
The freedoms we enjoy came at a great cost, and we are forever grateful to those who made the ultimate sacrifice.
🇺🇸 Memorial Day Flag Note: Flags are traditionally flown at half-staff until noon today, then raised to full-staff until sunset in honor of those who died while serving our country.

🎖️ 15,403 Flags Honor Suffolk Veterans

The News: Volunteers placed an American flag at every grave marker at Albert G. Horton, Jr. Memorial Veterans Cemetery in Suffolk ahead of today’s Memorial Day ceremony. In all, 15,403 flags were placed across the cemetery.
Why It Matters: Horton is one of the busiest veterans cemeteries in the country. Seeing thousands of flags together is a powerful reminder of the men and women who served our nation.
👉 The Move: The free Memorial Day ceremony begins today at 10 a.m. at 5310 Milners Road. Arrive by 9:30 a.m. for parking.
🎓 King’s Fork Senior Never Missed a Day of School

Photo Via: Suffolk VA Public Schools
The News: King’s Fork High School senior Michael Allen is the only student in Suffolk Public Schools’ Class of 2026 to have perfect attendance from kindergarten through 12th grade. He is also graduating with a 4.08 GPA.
Why It Matters: Thirteen years of perfect attendance takes serious discipline. Michael did more than just show up every day. He worked hard and finished strong.
👉 The Move: Michael, take a bow. Thirteen years without missing a day and a 4.08 GPA? That deserves a standing ovation.
🚨 Children’s Squeeze Toys Recalled Over Safety Concern

The News: More than 121,000 Orb Funkee Monkee squeeze toys sold at Walmart and Ollie’s have been recalled because the sand inside may contain asbestos.
Why It Matters: Asbestos can cause serious health problems if people are exposed to it. Since these toys were sold for children, families should check their homes right away.
👉 The Move: Look for date code 3102491A. If you have one, place it in a heavy-duty plastic bag and contact The Orb Factory at [email protected] for a refund.
