💰 Why Suffolk Just Got a Top Financial Grade

The News: Fitch Ratings has given Suffolk a AAA rating with a stable outlook on $35.6 million in 2026 general obligation bonds. That is the agency’s highest credit rating.
Why It Matters: Fitch pointed to Suffolk’s strong financial results, healthy reserves, manageable debt, and diverse tax base. A top credit rating can help the city borrow money on more favorable terms when financing major projects.
👉 The Move: Suffolk heads into the bond sale with top-tier credit and a stable outlook, a strong signal for the city’s overall financial health
🌍 How a Suffolk Student Turned Fundraising Into a Trip to Thailand

The News: Suffolk student Emmanuel Scott recently traveled to Bangkok for Operation Smile’s International Student Leadership Conference. The trip cost about $4,000, so Scott combined scholarship money, fundraising support, and his own efforts to make it happen.
Why It Matters: It was Scott’s first international trip, giving him the chance to meet students from around the world and take part in leadership, service, and cultural activities. The scholarship program now plans to expand and have past students help mentor the next group.
👉 The Move: Pretty cool seeing a Suffolk student turn determination and community support into a worldwide opportunity.
🏃 Suffolk Families Have a New Challenge This Week

The News: Family PE Week is underway, giving Suffolk families one simple activity to do together each day. Monday kicked things off with a dance party, and the rest of the week includes jumping jacks, a family walk, playground fun, and healthy tips.
Why It Matters: It’s an easy way to get kids moving while squeezing in a little extra family time. No gym membership or fancy equipment needed.
👉 The Move: Pick an activity, get everybody involved, and have a little fun moving together this week.
