⚡ Suffolk Teen Survives Triple Trauma
🏠 Housing Assistance Waitlist Now Open
🚧 Route 58 Lane Reopening
📅 Upcoming local events
Let’s get into it 👇

⚡Suffolk Teen Survives Triple Trauma

The News: A Suffolk teen is recovering after being electrocuted, falling about 60 feet, and landing in a brush fire after climbing a high-transmission power line. Officials say the teen is lucky to be alive.
Why It Matters: This is a powerful reminder of how dangerous high-voltage lines are. One mistake can turn into a life-threatening situation in seconds.
👉 The Move: Stay clear of power lines and talk with kids about the risks. What looks climbable can be deadly.
🏠 Housing Help Waitlist Is Open

The News: The Suffolk Redevelopment and Housing Authority has opened its Project-Based Voucher waitlist for rental help.
Why It Matters: This program can help eligible residents pay less in rent. Waitlists like this do not open often, and spots can go fast.
👉 The Move: If you or someone you know needs housing help, apply soon through the SRHA website.
🚧 Relief Is Coming to Route 58

The News: VDOT is starting to reopen a long-term lane closure on Route 58 near downtown Suffolk, with work beginning as early as overnight May 4. Once complete, all three westbound lanes will be open again.
Why It Matters: That closure has been slowing drivers down for months. Reopening the lane should ease congestion and make daily commutes a little smoother.
👉 The Move: Expect some overnight work zones this week, but better traffic flow is on the way. Stay alert in the construction area and enjoy the extra lane soon.
