💙 UPDATE: Suffolk Comes Through for Kaden
The News: Good news, Suffolk. Kaden Dickerson and his mom, Ginger, are going to Mackinac Island after all. After their handicap-accessible van broke down just days before the trip, the Suffolk community stepped up and helped the family get a new one. Their hotel stay was already covered by Best Western, so now the trip is back on.
Why It Matters: Kaden has Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy, a degenerative disease that makes every trip and every memory even more important. Ginger knows that pain deeply, after losing her son Dylan in 2021 at just 22 years old. Her message is simple and powerful: take the trip, make the memories, and do not wait for someday.
👉 The Move: This is Suffolk at its best. A family needed help, neighbors showed up, and now Kaden and Ginger get to make a memory they will never forget. Enjoy every minute, you two. Suffolk is rooting for you.
🎉 Suffolk Man Wins $100,000 on Powerball Using His Kids’ Birthdays
The News: An anonymous Suffolk man won $100,000 after buying a Powerball ticket at the Wawa at 1510 Holland Road for the July 15 drawing. He picked his own numbers using his children’s birthdays and added Power Play for one extra dollar, which doubled his prize from $50,000 to $100,000.
Why It Matters: The winner said he was in disbelief, and his wife had to help confirm the ticket was really worth six figures. Thanks to Virginia’s updated lottery laws, he can keep his name private.
👉 The Move: The winning numbers were 2-7-18-29-38, with Powerball 16. Congrats to Suffolk’s mystery winner, and maybe don’t skip that Wawa stop.

Suffolk Parks & Recreation’s TGIF Summer Concert Series kicks off Friday, June 12 at Downtown Festival Park, 215 W. Washington St.
✅ Festivities start at 6 p.m.
✅ Live music runs from 6:30–9:30 p.m.
✅ Admission is free for all ages
✅ Food, concessions, and adult beverages for guests 21+ will be available for purchase
✅ Concerts will be held at Downtown Festival Park and Bennett’s Creek Park

🥜 The 48th Annual Suffolk Peanut Fest returns this October
The 48th Annual Suffolk Peanut Fest returns to Suffolk Executive Airport from October 8 through 11 with country headliner Chris Cagle, a brand-new drone show, a live butterfly walk-through exhibit, and more. This year’s theme is “Celebrating Generations, One Picture Perfect Memory at a Time!” The festival is one of Suffolk’s biggest annual events, and this year’s new drone show and butterfly exhibit give families even more reasons to mark the calendar.
