📚 Suffolk’s Downtown Library Is Finally Open

The News: Suffolk’s new Downtown Library is officially open at 325 W. Washington St. Neighbors and city leaders gathered Saturday for the grand opening of a project more than 20 years in the making.
Why It Matters: The new library gives downtown Suffolk more room for families, students, teens, meetings, quiet reading, and digital learning. Inside, you’ll find children’s and teen areas, large meeting rooms, a digital maker lab, reading spaces, and an outdoor patio.
👉 The Move: Stop by and check it out. Hours are Monday through Thursday, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., and Friday and Saturday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Suffolk, this one was worth the wait!

Why It Matters: Police say her disappearance poses a credible threat to her health and safety. Rosalinda is described as 5 feet 7 inches tall, 170 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes. She was last seen wearing a gray sweatsuit and carrying a red purse and backpack. She may be on foot.

🗑️ Special Pickup Rules Change July 1

Photo Via: The City of Suffolk
The News: Starting July 1, 2026, Suffolk residents will be limited to 12 free special pickups per fiscal year for bulk items, furniture, yard debris, and other oversized materials. No scheduling is required, but after 12 pickups, each additional pickup will cost $47.50.
Why It Matters: If you use special pickups often, it is time to start keeping count. Loads larger than 12 cubic yards will also require a $100 fee upfront. With Suffolk’s new single-bin recycling system also starting July 1, trash rules are changing fast.
👉 The Move: Plan your bulk pickups wisely this year. Visit suffolkva.us/refuse or call 757-514-7630 for more information.
