🏫 Suffolk School Leader Earns Top Honor

The News: A big shoutout to Suffolk Public Schools Superintendent Dr. John B. Gordon III, who has been named Region 2 Superintendent of the Year and is now in the running for Virginia Superintendent of the Year.
Why It Matters: This recognition puts a bright spotlight on Suffolk Public Schools and the leadership happening across the division.

📬 Mail Delays Under Review in Suffolk

The News: A USPS audit found more than 26,000 delayed pieces of mail at the Suffolk Post Office, along with issues in package tracking and operations.
Why It Matters: If you’ve been waiting on a bill, package, or check, this could explain why. A lot of us in Suffolk have felt these delays firsthand.
👉 The Move: Keep an eye on your deliveries and allow extra time. Officials are pushing for fixes, so more updates should be coming soon.
🇺🇸 Help Honor Veterans in Suffolk

The News: Suffolk is launching America 250 Rocks, a painted rock scavenger hunt celebrating the nation’s 250th anniversary.
Why It Matters: It’s a fun, family-friendly way to explore Suffolk and take part in a community-wide celebration.
👉 The Move: Stop by the Suffolk Visitor Center at 524 N Main Street to grab a free rock, paint it, hide it, and scan QR codes on rocks you find to register them online.

🛍️ Suffolk Community Yard Sale May 2

The Retreat at Harbour Cove is hosting a community yard sale on Saturday, May 2, from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. Shoppers can expect items from multiple households, including clothing, tools, electronics, home décor, household items, and more. It all takes place at 1103 Elaina Place in Suffolk, with a rain date of May 3.
