🚗 More Cars, More Traffic in Suffolk

If your drive feels slower lately, you’re not imagining it.

The News: Suffolk’s population has grown by nearly 10,000 people in just a few years.

The Impact: More people mean more cars, and drivers are seeing longer backups, especially in North Suffolk and near the bridges.

The Why: The city is growing fast, and roads are trying to keep up.

👉 The Move: Try leaving a little earlier or use a traffic app to avoid the busiest spots.

🚒Propane Leak Handled Safely

Suffolk crews jumped into action this week to handle a hazardous situation.

The News: Fire & Rescue and the regional Hazmat Team responded to a leaking 100 gallon propane tank on Babbtown Road.

The Action: Crews set up safety zones and safely burned off the gas using a controlled flare.

The Result: No injuries were reported, and the situation was handled without major disruption.

👉 The Move: Moments like this are a reminder of the training and teamwork it takes to keep Suffolk safe.

🛺 Golf Carts Return at Sentara Obici

If you’re heading to the hospital soon, your ride in might look different.

The News: Starting April 2, Sentara Obici is replacing its shuttle buses with courtesy golf carts.

The Why: The shuttle contract ended, and the hospital is bringing back a volunteer led cart system.

Who it Helps: Great for seniors, injured patients, or anyone needing help across the parking lot.

👉 The Move: Look for the carts when you arrive or ask staff for a ride.
